How signing in works
Google will not sign anyone in on a panel like the EDGE, so your phone does it instead.
The widget draws a QR code on the EDGE.
You scan it and approve with Google, in your phone's normal browser.
The key comes back to the panel encrypted, and the inbox opens.
The key is encrypted with a secret that exists only on the EDGE's screen and in the
phone that looked at it, so nothing in between can read it — including us.
What it accesses
One Google permission: gmail.modify — read your messages, change their
labels, and send mail you write in the widget. Nothing else: not your contacts, not your
calendar, not your Drive.
After sign-in the widget talks to Google directly from your device. Your mail is never
routed through a server of ours, because there isn't one. See the
Privacy Policy for the full detail.
